Arkham City Street Date Broken, PS3 CE Delayed?

It looks like some overeager retailers keen to get the jump on the competition have broken Batman: Arkham City's street date in Australia. We've confirmed the game was for sale at several retailers, with preorders being honoured and the title freely available off the shelf. The game is out tomorrow anyway, but a couple of days headstart on one of the year's most anticipated games is sure to please fans that just can't wait.

In related news, those that have ordered (or were planning to buy) the PS3 Collector's Edition may have a few days before they get their hands on the goodies. Retailers have informed us that some distribution delays will see shipments of the package not arrive until Friday, or even next week. Xbox 360 versions appear to not be affected by the delay.

 Warner Bros. isn't going to let that sour the launch, and will give those affected (i.e. those who preordered) a standard edition copy of the game to tide them over until the full version is in stock. Best news? You'll get to keep both. Yes - it could be as little as a three day delay, and they're giving you a second, full copy to keep as an apology. That's great customer service.

Warner Bros. Australia has confirmed to us that they had instructed retailers to give away the bonus PS3 copy so that fans wouldn't miss out on launch day. No news yet on the cause or the exact arrival date.
