Microsoft Slashes Xbox Prices in Australia
Xbox 360

Microsoft will be cutting the prices of Xbox 360s in response to Sony's recent debut of its new model PS3. That super slim box sells for $299.95 - a far cry from its $1000 launch price, it must be noted - and comes with 12GB of flash storage. However, from tomorrow, Microsoft will cut all its models' RRPs by as much as $150.
The 4GB Xbox 360 will be $199, and its bundle with a Kinect will be $299. The Kinect by itself is down to $149, while the premium bundle with 250GB is $299. All the limited edition 250GB packs will be $399 now too. It's an aggressive response that puts the premium model of the 360 back at parity with the PS3, though of course savvy gamers will know that the Xbox has other costs due to Xbox Live subscriptions.
It will be interesting to see how both companies' decisions boost sales.
