Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Multiplayer Details
Xbox 360, PS3, PC

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is one of the hottest titles on the floor at E3, and people in attendance are able to experience a deathmatch style multiplayer mode. We had the pleasure of witnessing it in action, and here's how it works.
When starting a match, you pick your character. There is a very long character selection screen, with a range similar to that of Goldeneye on Nintendo 64, where you can pick the bad guys, the good guys, and also random NPC's such as priests. Once you pick a character, you then choose which weapon set you would like to use. There is no switching from a huge arsenal of weapons in the multiplayer deathmatch mode shown at E3 so choose wisely.
The match then kicks off instantly. The map is St. Peter's Square in Vatican city, with a hustling market set up. Lots of random civilians wondering around, and it took us a little while to figure out how exactly the game works. You play as an assassin (duh), and you get given a target to kill - another player. As you approach the target, if you make sudden movements they will be alerted to your presence and a chase sequence will initiate. If they are able to escape your chase, killing them will no longer give you points.
While all this is happening, another player may be assigned you as their assassination target. As the scoreboard becomes unbalanced, the top players will begin to be hunted by more than one assassin, until eventually the time runs out and the person with the most points wins.
Points are basically awarded for being as awesome as possible. If you do aerial kills or humiliating kills you will be rewarded with lots of points. If you simply run and stab, you will only get the minimal reward. The idea seems very balanced and challenging not just for newcomers but even for the best players, as he could end up with a handful of assassins hunting him down while he only has one target.
This is just one multiplayer mode which will surely add hours of fun for any Assassin's Creed fan. Expect to hear several more multiplayer mode announcements between now and its release. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is currently scheduled to be released on November 19th.

Well if you played AC2 then the whole brotherhood thing would make more sense. There's a part where you run around in a group of assassins.
Yeah co-op should be cool - and the trailer for the game makes it look like as much. Unless you just have assassins following you around in single player.
I'd be more interested in Co-Op play than versus. IDK, I've always found the game extremely frustating when chasing an NPC across rooftops etc due to the lockon feature and the character always finding the dumbest direction to jump. I see some very aggrivating moments in versus mode.
From what I saw, there wasn't much in the way of countering. Who knows, maybe it will be a level based system and you unlock countering at higher levels. Hence the better players with more assassins after them will have better defenses too.
Sounds pretty cool, like murder in the dark almost. I like how the balance changes during a match. I'm guessing learning to move like an NPC while coming up on a player you've been assigned to will help keep you under wraps. In fact, this could play better and more assassin like than the single player. Having to be sneaky against a target who is moving around as they wish, while other people are creeping up on you, could get pretty tense. Be interesting to see how they handle the combat in multiplayer too. Will counters and that work like before? I wouldn't wanna attack, I love countering.
Nice to know what the other modes are. Some co-op could be cool. Judging by the CG trailer, yeah, there should be.
