Fender Signs Deal With Harmonix - PS3, Xbox 360
Harmonix, with partner EA, have today announced a deal that sees the famous Fender brand being featured in their upcoming music game Rock Band. This deal includes a brand new peripheral for the game, shaped upon the famous Fender Stratocaster (you guitar folks would know what I mean). As well as the new toy, Fender brand bass guitars and amps will also feature in the game.
But that's not all! Harmonix have also announced that Roland (and thusly, BOSS) will feature in the game. Unfortunately, no details were given about their involvement, but we can assume it concerns their lineup of effect units and synthesizers.
"Giving the players the opportunity to rock out using a guitar peripheral modelled after the Strat really adds to the authenticity of the experience," said Alex Rigopulos, president of Harmonix.
Harmonix also commented that the existing Guitar Hero peripherals will be compatible with Rock Band, but were unclear as to whether the Rock Band peripheral will be compatible with Guitar Hero.
