26th June 2007, 12:06pm

Shares of Nintendo Japan have shot to record highs, valuing the total worth of the company at 6.57 trillion yen ($AUD62.9bn). This now puts it in the top 10 companies overall in Japan, and just ahead of Sony, with a valuation of 6.48 trillion yen ($AUD62.05bn). For the last financial year, they posted profits of some 966.5 billion yen ($AUD9.25bn), and expect this to rise to some 1.14 trillion yen ($AUD10.92bn) next year, riding on the back of the very successful Wii and DS consoles.
Sliced Comments: Great news for Nintendo. While some may dismiss Nintendo, and some of their strategies, you cannot deny they are the world's largest gaming company.
