Auran Shutting Down - PC

30th November 1999, 5:30pm

Well, it's somewhat official. After the grim news following Auran's announcement of free Fury, they've just announced that Auran has gone into full lockdown, with all staff at the Brisbane headquarters laid off. This news comes from a company insider who spoke to GameSpot after the shutdown occured this afternoon.

The staff (around 70 strong) will be given full pay up to today, as well as any other payments that they're entitled to (service leave and so on). It's rumoured that administrators are in the process of deciding whether to fully liquidate the company, or restructure it.

However, in spite of this, it's confirmed that this would not affect Fury's servers. Whether or not the game will see an upsurge in the coming days as a result of yesterday's 'free-for-all' announcement remains to be seen, but this event stands as a black day for the Australian games industry.
