Spore dated! - PC, DS

Good news for those who are waiting for Spore, EA and Maxis today revealed that the game will be available from the 7th of September this year. As you may already know, the highly anticipated game is coming to the PC, DS and even to mobile phones.
In Spore, players create and evolve life, establish tribes, build civilizations, sculpt entire worlds and explore a universe created by other gamers. Spore gives players a large number of tools to customize nearly every aspect of their universe: creatures, vehicles, buildings, and even UFOs. Players can then easily share their creations with the world or explore infinite new galaxies created by other gamers.
Maxis Chief Designer Will Wright had this to say: "The wait is almost over. We're in our final stages of testing and polish with Spore, and the team at Maxis can't wait to see the cosmos of content created by the community later this year."
Great news indeed. We'll keep you posted as the game approaches release.

It's good that they decided to do it specifically for the DS, that will actually make it worthwhile. I'll give it a go on that system and see.
Supreme Commander is off the hook good, at least if you mean PC. Dunno what the 360 version will be like.
Word is that Pandemic (I think? Was it pandemic? SW battlefront guys) are making a battlefield - esque LOTR game. I want in!
But yeah, Spore looks great. Innovative at least for following through from the beginning to the beyond... and the community elements look to be great.
We should make a Sliced Sporecast
Can. Not. Wait.I can. I've still got to play through The Outfit, Enchanted Arms, Lost Oddysey, Eternal Sonata, and LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth on 360, then there's The Witcher, AOE3, Warcraft 3 (never actually played it, only the expansion lol) and The Settlers on PC.. not to mention games like C&C3, DiRT, CMR 2005, Halo 2, Xpand Rally Xtreme and Supreme Commander that I still have to play through at some stage.
My backlog of games just keeps getting bigger, hah. I just beat Bioshock and GTA San Andreas too.
Can. Not. Wait.

The DS version looks like the same gameplay principles but properly applied to the system - the Paper Mario sort of style makes it look like it could be a side scroller... which could definitely work.
PC version for me first though.
Yeah, we'll grab this on both PC and DS most likely. Should be an amazing game, the attention to detail on planet life is incredible. You can speed up the effects of global warming and watch the world collapse in a pool of lava! =D
Hmm... yeah, I definitely can't see the depth transitioning to a mobile phone. That being said, using the stylus to manipulate and design your creature could be awesome, so I'm not writing off the DS version just yet.
I can't imagine this game being very good on the DS or mobile phones. I'd love to give it a whirl on the PC though.
For some reason, someone on the official Xbox forums yesterday said that Microsoft might announce the Spore release date today.... I was thinking.. Microsoft?
Guess he was half right.. the date was announced, just not by a company that has nothing to do with the game![]()
