Holy fandango, a new DS? That's the rumour that's going around at the moment, stating that Nintendo is getting ready to unveil a new iteration of the DS platform at E3 this year. This rumour comes from Famitsu's publishing company, Enterbrain's head honcho Hirokazu Hamamura.

Nintendo has said 'no comment' to this rumour, so I guess we'll find out if its true come E3 time. And now, over to our forum folks: do we really need a DS revision? What would you shove into it (or take out for that matter)?

Transfer VC games to DS internal memory.

And hopefully be able to store them after turning off the DS

Decent compatibility with Wii, imo.

I couldn't think of anything new they'd do to the DS apart from the obvious increase in graphics (woot!). Two touch screens would definitely be cool though.

could come with a wii remote type device?

They only way that would work is if they make the stylus into a motion sensor (or something of similar size). I think it would be a bit of overkill though.

I thought it would be another revision of the DS, such as DS Xtra Lite.

But the possibility of an entirely new handheld isn't out of the question either. These things usually take a few years to come about.

Oh, I thought this was talking about a new DS model - like the DS Lite. But now I see.. Well, I'm all for a new Nintendo handheld. The DS is aging a little.. Plenty of good games, though.

GBA was launched in 2001, DS hit in late 2004 in Japan/America and in early 2005 here. That's about four years. I wouldn't have expected it until next year.

It would be definitely be backwards compatible, though, and probably with both screens touchable. And possibly a gyroscope inside, beefed up graphics and SD card support.
