Lies: New DS Not Coming At E3 - DS

Earlier this week, we reported on the rumour going around that Nintendo were going to unveil a new version of the DS at E3 this year. Turns out this is a big fat phony lie (just like the cake).

Nintendo have issued a statement stating that "We cannot comment on the specifics of what will be announced at E3, but at the very least there won't be anything like what Mr. Hamamura suggested, so would like to clearly deny this. We're having a hard time understanding what kind of evidence [Mr. Hamamura] had for saying this."

Mr. Hamamura is the publisher of Japan's Famitsu magizine, where the rumour began. I suppose if a new DS is revealed at E3 this year, all the Nintendo staff will be looking at each other and whispering "What the hell? Where did this come from?".

That's true. We were at a Nintendo Connection Tour and overseas they had come out and confirmed 'yes, the DS lite is coming', and they were like 'there's nothing in development'.

One week before the DS Lite was announced: "There is no new DS coming out."
