Love to mate, but I recently sold my Xbox 360, gamertag and all. MS charging $20 for 4 new maps was the final straw! Don't know why I bought their console in the first place....
Still, 2 weeks and I'll have my custom built gaming PC - I'll prob get COD4, ET:Quak Wars & WoW, and then tell everyone I know I have the flu and not to contact me for 72 hours.
oh, and C4 has the advantage over claymores because ppl don't look for it (always looking for the red beams), Couple of times I've been on the second floor of a building sniping, heard foot steps and double clicked reload to take out 1 or even two people on the floor below me. The sentence that follows, "OMG, F*K OFF GTRAIN! HOW THE F*K DID YOU KNOW I WAS THERE YOU HACK!!?!?" is priceless, lol. 5.1 surround sound....how I love you so.

Yeah I guess - I usually just run around shooting people though. I'm quite good at it. I'm sure with a bit of practice I could be down with the C-money.
What's your gamertag, G-train? We should do a sliced GTA or COD session sometime.

C4 is awesome! Though I prefer claymores for defensive setups, C4 is great A) when you got have access to claymores, and B) when you aren't defending (aka camping).
Good for clearing bomb sites of enemy C4/Claymores, good for clearing sniper hide outs - its basically 2 extra grenades with a massive explosion radius. =)

I don't think it's too hard starting out. I think I'm level... 37 or so now.
I somewhat agree with you G-train, but from my experience C4 was kinda useless (more like I never bothered using it), Juggernaut didn't do much for me (though I didn't use it much), though Martyrdom gets you so many kills most of the time it's ridiculous.
Personal favourites, that I remember, are:
M5 for SMG
G3 for Assault Rifle
Pretty much any sniper rifle
And I never really used the other weapons.
For some reason I can't handle the M16's short burst fire, but the G3s single shot goes down fine with me.

The learning curve does make it hard for new players. I was rank 10 Prestige, lvl 55 (eg I played too much) in COD4 - IMO RJG the best weapons are unlocked at the start (with the exception of the P90, but thats a n00b gun anyway), same goes for perks, best newb perk are:
Best Blue Perk > C4 (Unlocked at rank 1)
Best Red Perk > Juggernaught (unlocked at rank 1)
Best Yellow Perk > Matrydom (unlocked at about rank 10)
Best assault rifle > M16 (Unlocked at rank 1)
Best SMG > Skorpion (Unlocked at rank 1)
Best LMG > RPD (unlocked at about rank 10)
Best shotgun > W1200 (unlocked at rank 1)
Best Sniper > M4 (unlocked at rank 1)
So you see, if you start and give those weapons a crack, you should do alright. As for the silencers etc, they are unlocked after kills, if you played 3 team dethamtch with only the M16 and got 10 kills each round (not that hard) you'd have the red dot sight for the M16 already, play another 5 games and you'd get the silencer.
And if you really feel the high ranked guns are better, play hardcore - 1 shot kill from all assault and sniper rifles, 2 shot from SMG - weapon accuracy is the only thing that matters.
Read my COD4 Guide when Pred gets around to uploading ^_^ 10,000 words of gaming gold lol.

The whole XP points thing is one of the reasons I don't want to play multiplayer. All my friends online have awesome new weapons with silencers that reduce recoil and grenade launcher attachments for their rifles. Hardly bloody fair when I'm first starting out. Give me a ranking and some customisation based on ranking, sure, but don't start making the game a grindfest to get the weapons everyone else uses to kill you with.

XP is a bonus to COD4 gameplay, not the end objective like some RPG or MMO.
I find these "Fun Weekend" setups a poor attempt at maintaining player numbers. Boo IW, Boooooo!
