The start of Season 4 Arena has been announced. June 24 will bring in a whole new set of gear for every class (some get two or three different sets due to their varying specs). As usual, this means all arena rank and ratings will be reset. You keep your arena points (and honor points, of course), but people that were lucky enough to earn ranks such as Duelist and Rival in season 2 will no longer be able to use that rank unless they have performed just as well in season 3.

Also, the Merciless (season 2) gear will now be available for purchase with honor points and tokens, making it a very easy way to gear up your level 70 characters in tier 5 equivalent items without ever having to do a PVE raid.  If you've played WoW at all recently, you'll know the term "welfare epics", and that's exactly what the merciless gear sets are about to become.

Season 1 gear will be completely removed from the honor vendor, however it will still be purchasable from the tier 4 vendor on The Isle, and of course it won't disappear from your character if you have any of the pieces.

Straight from the mouth of Blizzard:

"We’re currently planning to end the third Arena season and begin Arena Season 4 on June 24, 2008. This exciting Arena season will introduce the Brutal Gladiator set, and will also allow players to purchase Arena Season 2 items using the honor system. Please note that we will be resetting all Arena team and personal ratings. Players will still retain their Arena points and teams with this reset. The team and personal rating will simply be reset to the default 1500, allowing all teams to once again compete for top honors with a fresh start.

Also, with the end of the third season, players on the top teams from each battlegroup will receive their end-of-season rewards. These include Arena-specific titles that they can display proudly until the end of the new season, and, for the best of the best, an Armored Nether Drake. Please also be aware that with the end of the current season, all previous end-of-season titles will be removed.
"

This of course means that season 4 will not actually start here in Australia until the 25th, due to the time difference.

You don't need to arena to get S2 gear. They waited far too long to release Season 2 gear to honor points so anybody that spent 1 weekend in AV when it was double honor ended up getting the maximum amount of honor you can get, and therefore was able to buy full Season 2 when it came out.

The game's gear is broken, they need to make PVE more appealing or just start over with WoW 2.

I can't believe the number of ppl that PvP these days.

When WoW first came out, it didn't even have BG's for the first 6months. Even when WSG / AB / AV were out, majority of the severs played PvE endevours anyway.

But things seemed to have changed. In my recent roic runs and general isle grinding, every second person is in atleast full S2. Seems the days of the big guilds persuing Tierd gear are gone.....everyone just arenas now =\

As for the "Wear their title's proudly" bit, I think the only people who look at titles are the ones with them, I don't know anyone of import that actually gives a damn, and when I see someone on an armored netherdrake, I don't think "Wow! That guy is awesome" I think "Wow, wish I could sit around on the dole playing WoW 12hrs aday".

LMAO but the funny thing about that is that it's so true & half the time, most of them are bloody show offs as well imo.

I don't PvP at all, due mostly to the fact I have a horrid PC and Aussie latency, but also because I find it broken in several ways. I do enjoy AV, as it comes down to tactics not, OP classes and gear, but Arena is definitely not my scene.

I'll stick to badge epics for the time being.

I suppose that's good in a way for people that do a lot of PvPing but for those who don't, they'll probably end up just having to stick to the welfare epics.   lol
