Who would have guessed a few months ago that Playstation would be performing as well as it is today? Sony never gave up, and now with the release of Metal Gear Solid IV followed by rave reviews all over the internet, the Playstation 3 is selling through the roof in Japan.

These latest figures from m-create.com indicate the sales for the period of June 9 - June 15:

- PS3: 75,311 64,455 (593.73%)
- PSP: 62,016 2,659 (4.29%)
- Wii: 45,564 925 (2.07%)
- DS Lite: 39,201 4,181 (11.94%)
- PS2: 7,297 1,018 (16.21%)
- Xbox 360: 2,163 117 (5.13%)

It's quite amazing what one exclusive title can do for a console, and will hopefully push Sony in to releasing more of their promised exclusive titles such as Home, SOCOM and LittleBigPlanet.

Nothing can explain the reason Xbox 360 sales are as low as they are in Japan though. With amazing exclusive JRPG's like Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata, Microsoft can't figure out why their console isn't performing well in the region.

Even with the upcoming list of JRPG's including Infinite Undiscovery, Star Ocean, The Last Remnant, and Tales of Vesperia, Microsoft still doesn't seem to have any sort of competitive future in the Japanese market at this stage.

The Nintendo Wii is still selling through the roof though, and overall sales still of course show the Wii and DS to be much higher than any other current-generation platform.

It's still great to see a company that looked down and out at one stage come out on top, let's just hope that the fans get something out of their continued loyalty.

Yay for Sony not dying! Now they need to bring out LittleBigPlanet, the bums.

Don't get to excited from one week of good sales, keep your fingers crossed they continue.
