Core gamers, I assume, are gamers that don't like playing the multitude of shovelware titles currently doing the rounds on the Wii and DS. Marc Franklin, director of public relations at Nintendo has told GamePro that core gamers will be very happy with E3, as Nintendo are planning to unveil a bunch of new titles. While he did mention Mario Super Sluggers (and what kind of 'core' gamer would get excited by that?), he neglected to mention anything else.

So, what do you think is coming?

Well given that fans have been clamouring for an icarus sequel for twenty years, i think it's pretty cool that they're bringing it back. And supposedly twilight princess is the last incarnation of zelda in its current form, whatever that means. Everything is speculation right now - you might turn out to be correct. But i'm remaining optimistic.

So, reviving a dog old IP and rehashing a bunch of other IPs is apparently all Nintendo is good nowadays? As much as I enjoyed Phantom Hourglass, the fact remains that it's the exact same game as every single Zelda game ever released (barring those CD-i versions). When are they actually going to do something new?

Kid icarus is guaranteed, and that's about as hardcore as you can get. Pikmin seems pretty likely too, and there are basically always two zelda games in development. That's a pretty good start.

If Nintendo announces any of the things you guys have mentioned, then it proves they don't know squat about the 'core' gamer.

I would be pretty stoked about Zelda. Pikmin and Kid Icurus would be cool too. If they announced those three or zelda and one of the other two I would be happy.

They have the engine. All they need to do is make more levels. Not as guaranteed as some of the others, but a trailer wouldn't be too out there.

I personally would be very disappointed if they decided to release a sequel. Too much of a good thing. I would rather they start on the next one.

I doubt we will see a new main Mario this year.

The f-zero series is dead. Miyamoto didn't like gx, so i doubt it will be back for a while. There's probably a new zelda trailer, and galaxy two wouldn't surprise me. i think he's referring to factor five's kid icarus update, though. Oh, and disaster has been shelved like project hammer. Pikmin will be playable,  animal crossing wii will be playable and nintendo will unveil a four gb nintendo SD card that you can boot from, but you still won't be able to load from regular cards. Those are my e3 predictions.

A new Zelda game trailer, released last minute as a surprise, won't be released for two years. A new take on a Metroid title, a new Mario sports franchise entry and a "mature" title in a new IP from a newish second party developer. Oh, and Disaster: Day of Crisis will get closer to release.

And don't forget F-Zero, which will use the Mario Kart wheel.
