Wii Sports Resort Details - Wii
17th July 2008, 4:14am

We've got some details on the sequel to the game that unquestionably kicked off the Wii craze - Wii Sports. Wii Sports Resort uses the new Wii MotionPlus accessory for near 1:1 control. The peripheral is included with the game, though we presume you'll only get one in the box, so if you want a level playing ground you're going to have to fork out some cash for three more.
The game takes place on a tropical island, and it sounds like they'll be trying to include more than just the five activities of the original title. We've already seen Sword Play, Power Cruising (jetskis) and a frisbee game where you try and toss a disc to a cute Mii dog.
Check out tons of screens, the logo and MotionPlus accessory below.

Yeah I saw that, hence why I didn't comment on the wireless 3rd party nun-chucks which I was playing with today at work. I'm pretty sure at E3 2005 or 06 they said the Nun-chucks would be wireless eventually, but maybe I just assumed it.
I'm thinking maybe they could bundle the accessory with a wireless nun-chuk given you plug the thing in where the nun-chuk normally goes. That would be kinda cool, but you'd think they would have announced that at E3.
Whatever happened to "Nun-chuks will be wireless soon" when they first freaking announced the Wii? Makes me wonder.
I don't think they ever said that themselves. Obviously there are third party products on the market. Any if you check out the pic above, you'll see a neatly covered port at the bottom of the MotionPlus to connect through. Glad they're not leaving it open like with the original controllers.

Why are they making us paying for "enhanced" motion control when this is the whole point of the Wii-remote in the first place?? When are they going to offer a wii-mote that has this "enhanced" functionality built in?
This seems like they're admitting defeat that the original wii-mote isn't good enough for accurate motion..
It's annoying, I know. I'm not super impressed. But it's not like you can turn to Intel and go 'why didn't you give us these chip speeds two years ago?'. It's technology development, and it takes time. Nintendo have obviously been working on it since release, and if you have the technology, well... why not? I expect we will see it included in new remotes eventually.
I'm actually looking forward to this, some new sports to play would be refreshing.
Within the year they'll be offering the Wii Remote Plus that has the damn thing built in.I'm glad to see the Wii remote is finally living up to its promise and getting better functionality, but this is just annoying.

My guesstimate for the accessory sold seperately is $39.95.
It would be cool if you could walk around the resort to go to whichever activity you want to do for that day, but you can tell it's just all going to be menu'd like Wii Sports.
