NAL Announce Onyx GBA Release Date
13th June 2003, 4:18pm
Due to the enormous success of the Game Boy® Advance SP launch, Nintendo Australia announces the addition of a new colour.
From June 20th, 2003, the Game Boy Advance SP will be available in Onyx (Black) joining the Colbalt (Blue) and Platinum (Silver) units on shelves nation-wide.
After reaching sales of just over two units per minute in the first ninety-two retail hours in Australia, the new addition to the Game Boy® brand has enjoyed world-wide success with sales already over 1 million units in America after less than 10 weeks on sale.
In Australia the Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Advance SP have achieved combined sales of over 300,000 units of hardware and over 700,000 units of Game Boy Advance software since launching in June 2001. (Figures courtesy Inform).
Since its introduction in 1989, Nintendo's portable Game Boy® line has been responsible for sales of over 150 million units and more than half a billion games worldwide.
