Storyline:
Return to a time in Norrath's past, when the city of Freeport was a new coalition of merchants and the elves have yet to abandon their ancient homeland completely. EverQuest Adventures takes place during the Age of Enlightenment; a time set approximately five centuries before the original EverQuest for the PC. To the west Antonius Bayle the second has recently been crowned ruler of Qeynos. He leads the various human settlements in that region against the armies of gnolls who recently decimated the Dwarven mines of Blackburrow. The prophet Erud has gathered the more intelligent humans of the western lands in a place called Highbourne on the western coast. From there he hopes to lead his people across the ocean and away from the world of "uncivilized" men. In the eastern lands the once great Eldarr Forest has all but disappeared, its trees withering away as the once rich ground beneath it turns to desert sands. Most of the elves have already set across the sea, but still some remain refusing to abandon their ancient homelands. The ancient elven city of Tak`Xiz, once considered the most powerful city on Norrath, has been almost completely abandoned, Dark elf raiding parties from Neriak sweep through the ruins pillaging powerful magic artifacts and wiping out the remaining few elves who refuse to abandon their homes. The sole hope of the remaining elves on Tunaria lies in the city of Fayspires. Here the elves of light have resolutely set themselves against the inevitable doom brought upon their people.
In the frigid plains of Everfrost in the far north many of the nomadic barbarian tribes have put aside their differences and banded together for survival. The city of Halas stands as a new concept to these proud warriors, opening communication and trade with other races for the first time in barbarian history. Fortunately the barbarians have found strong support in their endeavors, especially from the dwarven mining city of Moradhim nestled in the northern mountains. The common enemy of the numerous orcs of the Frosteye clan in the northern regions has brought these two nations together in both battle and trade. Moradhim is one of many mining expeditions sent out from the dwarven kingdom of Kaladim, although none have been so successful. Gnomes have also managed to establish a foothold on the surface world in the city of Klik`Anon and walled themselves into a valley of the northeastern mountain range. Only their innovative technology and unquestionably bright outlook on things have managed to keep the droves of goblins and gnolls in the area at bay. Similar problems face the halfling village of Rivervale. With the goblin lair of Clan Runnyeye not far from their homes, the halflings have been forced to abandon their more relaxed and uncaring natures in order to protect the lifestyle they've worked hard to build.
In the South, the swamplands provide a perfect home for the trolls of Grobb. The only obstacle in the way of these fierce and unnaturally resilient creatures is their own bellicose nature.
