GTA: Vice City lawsuit about face
27th January 2004, 2:05pm
The ongoing lawsuit against the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City publishers, Take Two Interactive has taken one step back, but another forward. The Miami group has instead dropped the federal case, and switched to a local Florida lawsuit - which has a greater chance of being succesful.
The lawsuit was in relation to the content of GTA:VC, in which one level was entitled "Kill the Haitians". Predictably, the American Haitian community took offence to this, and in the good old American fashion launched a lawsuit against Take Two, claiming that the game incited negative racial stereotypes of their community. Action was also launched against several prominant US retailers and Sony itself for selling and promoting the game.
Don't people get sick of coming up with these countless stream of pointless lawsuits in the US? People need to chill out a little more I think and stop taking offence to every little thing. I think the point "Irony" is lost to many Americans
