Featuring the same design layout as an S controller, the Logitech Cordless Precision controller is at its best when you look at its design. It may look long, but there’s no buttons in the middle so your fingers won’t be stretched to press anything. There’s one extra button on the controller and that toggles the vibration on and off. It doesn’t take a genius to realise that having the vibration off would save battery power, so it was a pretty clever idea for Logitech to throw in as an option in case people still want the vibrations.

The Logitech logo is clearly on display in the middle of the controller and it is surrounded by a clear green plastic. This same clear green plastic can be found underneath the two analog sticks which really gives a nice finish to the overall feel of the joystick. None of the buttons glow or anything, but when you think about it, you probably would prefer it not to because it would be a fair bit of a distraction. The Logitech Cordless Precision controller takes two AA batteries, and lasts for around 40 - 50 hours depending on how much button mashing you do, and whether or not you have the vibration on.

The controller was used right throughout beating the entire game known as Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, and it handled extremely well throughout the entire campaign. It’s definitely worth the purchase, as playing without a wire looks and feels so much better. There have actually been some rumours that the next Xbox will only have wireless controllers, in order to make the console design a lot slicker, but that’s just a rumour at the moment.

Installation

The controller comes with a receiver that sorta looks like a glasses case cut in half. The receiver is where you can plug in your memory card and Xbox Live kit or microphone, depending on what you want to use it for. It’s small but it does have a short cord of about 40CM in length that you plug in to your Xbox. Yes, there is a cord, but it doesn’t stretch across your living room or anything. You can just place the receiver on top of your Xbox and it will be fine.
