In hindsight it's quite easy to predict the success of the many reality based TV shows polluting our screens today. One of the most successful games franchise ever created is none other than The Sims- a reality based game where you control your "Sims" through everyday life. An amazingly simple premises that has captured the world's imagination. Since the originals release many an expansion pack has been released squeezing just that little more life out of the game. The latest expansion, and probably the last till the arrival of Sims 2, is Superstar. We've all wanted to live the life of the rich and famous!

It's all a matter of quitting your current job and signing yourself an agent. With increasing success come all the trials and tribulations of being a star. The most amusing is the fans. After a period of success you start to notice a few stalkers picketing themselves around your house! Of course, in a material world it's all about how many gadgets and gizmos you have and living the lifestyle of a rich person opens up countless riches and it's a great deal of fun decorating the new house with the likes of a recording studio or skydiving simulator.
In order to make it big you have to jump in a cab and head to Studio Town- where all the action is and where anyone who's anyone is found. Studio Town is the hub for the movie, music and fashion industries. Thankfully you'll have to invest a bit of time before making it big and it's definitely a case of knowing the right people. Of course, once you hit it big your star power has survive. This is when the game gets really interesting. Living it up and being photographed with the A List stars is a definite tip for getting your foot in the door. All your entertainment news is garner by the daily newspaper delivered to your door each morning. It's here you'll find who's hot and who to avoid at the parties.
Don't forget for a minute that life must go on and you can't fail to neglect everyday life chores. That means that until you make it big you'll still have to hold down a job, pay the bills and increase your life skills. Who said being a superstar was easy? Sims: Superstar has it's tongue firmly planted in cheek and just falls short of totally taking the piss. Some of the many new items are extremely extravagant, that only a celebrity would even consider having. An oxygen bar anyone?

Sims: Superstar is a lot of fun to play and has it's tongue firmly planted in cheek. Novices might find the intense micromanagement early a tad off putting but those willing to stick at it will be sucked into the Sims universe.
