If you're a LOTR fan and love RPG's, forget The Third Age, play WoW right now! Live out your adventure on the side of the Alliance or the Horde, selecting from a range of races including dwarfs, night elves, gnomes and humans for the Alliance, or the undead, tauran, orc and troll. Once choosing your race and gender, next up is your class. This is where your main talents will lie as you journey on your way to level 60 and beyond. Both races have practically the same choice in classes except for one type where Alliance members can choose paladin, however the Horde alternative is called a shaman. The Tauran shaman is one of the most hated types of players online by alliance members, which is probably why so many Horde choose that journey. Other classes that can be chosen by both sides include hunters, warriors, warlocks, druids, mages, priests and rogues.
This may all sound fairly familiar to many other MMORPG games, but the game truly expands when it comes to professions, secondary skills, and the size of the game. A character can choose two professions and automatically can do all three of the secondary skills which are fishing, first aid and cooking. Professions in WoW include everything from Engineering to Enchanting, Mining, Blacksmithing, and even Herbalism. All of theses professions and secondary skills have to be mastered to a level of 300 if you want to make some big bucks from them. WoW currency works in the form of copper/silver/gold. 100 copper is 1 silver, and 100 silver is 1 gold. To put the money situation into perception, players must save up around 90 gold for a mount at level 40 which usually takes a while for the un-conservative player, however at level 60 a player must save up 900 gold if they want to ride an epic mount which goes twice as fast as running.
At the moment, level 60 is the highest you can go; however, in the expansion gamers will see the cap be raised to level 70 to allow the new instances to be playable. What's all this? Instances, you ask? An instance is sort of a level within the game that players can keep doing over and over again for experience points (XP), money, and drops like weapons or armour.
