Sired by the demon Sparda, Dante sets off on a new challenge in the third game of the series Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening. it's not until halfway through the game that you actually awaken, but DMC3 is definitely a game not to be missed. Vergil returns in this epic saga of good and evil, where the world's best demon-hunter sets out to destroy the one that rules all the demons in hell. Unfortunately it's not as easy this time round for Dante – Sparda has his own agenda, and helps Vergil to new heights which inevitably unleashes Dante's true power. He's got the moves, the ego, and most importantly the best weapons on earth, so read on to find out whether or not Devil May Cry 3 is your game.

Gameplay

Combat in Devil May Cry 3 separates it from the standard action adventure game. God of War follows a very similar suit, only DMC3 flows smoothly through the battles with high-flying sword-swinging action that only Capcom can master. Dante can jump about 2 stories high, making the climb to the top of the tower early in the game fairly easy; however there are several parts where if you want to get items and money, your jumping skills will have to be perfected. DMC3 is not only about jumping though. There's a strong storyline setting the scene for Dante's awakening, and awesome combat with sometimes up to ten demons all at the same time. Your guns have infinite ammo which is ideal for a game like this, and switching between your guns is as simple as pressing L2, as opposed to R2 for switching melee weapons. Melee weapons range from your sword, to special ice nun chucks, and even two talking swords (a boss you must defeat!)

Advancing through the game is similar to any other adventure game, but Devil May Cry 3 does it's job a lot better than the average title. The fully destructible environments along with the glossy orbs, weapons, and other items that you collect along the way give Devil May Cry 3 that something extra making it as good as adventure titles such as God of War and Zelda: Windwaker. Gameplay of course increases throughout the adventure as you purchase new moves, upgrade your weapons, and increase your overall performance.

There are four different options to change styles which affect what the circle button does. Trickster allows you to dash from side to side avoiding enemy attacks, Swordmaster fully maximizes your melee weapon's powers with unique attacks, Gunslinger allows you to master all your guns, and Royalguard is your basic defense style. We liked Swordmaster the most, as a lot of the game has you hacking and slashing enemies that are constantly surrounding you, and Swordmaster allows you to rip through them like a tiger rips through a zebra.
